Prince Charming

I'm all aglow
And now I know
The key to all heaven is mine
My heart has wings
And I can fly
I'll touch ev'ry star in the sky
So this is the miracle that I've been dreaming of...
So this is love

So This is Love
David/Hoffman/Livingston

Prince Charming is the stalwart, but somewhat absent hero from Cinderella (1950).

Prince Charming's part of the tale of Cinderella is simple and straightforward. He falls immediately in love with Cinderella when she enters the ball. Until then, he had been bored and bothered by the dreary precedings of the ball, but things turn around completely when he starts to dance with the mystery girl. He's surprised when the girl runs off at midnight, but when she leaves behind a clue, her glass slipper, on the steps of the palace, he vows to marry the girl who fits the slipper. After a nearly disastrous turn of events, the Grand Duke finds Cinderella, brings her to the palace, and the two are married.

Prince Charming is voiced by William Phipps, with Mike Douglas providing his singing voice, and by Christopher Daniel Barnes in the sequel (who also voices Prince Eric in The Little Mermaid).

Prince Charming is featured in Cinderella, as well as the sequel, Cinderella II: Dreams Come True (2002), and in the upcoming third film in the series, Cinderella III (2007).

Prince Charming falls immediately for the stunning and mysterious girl he meets and dances the night away with at the ball. He and Cinderella are married when she is the girl whose foot fits into the glass slipper.
Prince Charming, as Cinderella's main man, shares her nemesis, the treacherous Lady Tremaine, Cinderella's stepmother. The poor prince also gets a pretty decent amount of trouble from his father, the King, though.
My personal thoughts and analysis...

This is one of the real gems in the Disney classic collection. The prince has slightly more personality than Snow White's prince, but slightly less than Aurora's prince. They were starting to give the male leads more of a character, but weren't quite there yet. Still, this film carries very well because of the strength of the other characters, particularly Cinderella, Lady Tremaine, Anastasia and Drizella, the Grand Duke and the King. It's a charming, romantic film, and really one of the Disney greats.

Quotes from Princey

Cinderella: Oh my goodness!
Prince Charming: What's the matter?
Cinderella: It's midnight.
Prince Charming: Yes, so it is but why---
Cinderella: Goodbye
Prince Charming: Goodbye? You can't go now. It's only---
Cinderella: Oh I must. Please! Please I must!
Prince Charming: But why?
Cinderella: Well, I-I--- Oh the prince. I haven't met the prince.
Prince Charming: The Prince?... but didn't you know...
Cinderella: Goodbye!
Prince Charming: No wait. Come back. Oh please come back! I don't even know your name! How will I find you? Wait! Please wait!

Prince Charming: Wait! Stop!

Aaaaaaaand, that's about all Prince Charming had to say!
